Parts Work
Therapy
A compassionate exploration of your inner landscape
We are not one self—we are many. Inside each of us lives a whole cast of inner characters: the inner critic, the pleaser, the protector, the dreamer, the wounded child. Some are loud, some are hidden, some are exhausted from holding too much for too long. These parts aren’t signs of dysfunction—they are evidence of a complex, adaptive psyche doing its best to protect, survive, and belong.
Parts Work Therapy, as I offer it, draws from multiple sources:
the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model developed by Richard Schwartz
the soul-centric map of the psyche from Wild Mind (Bill Plotkin)
Jungian depth psychology, with its focus on the unconscious and the archetypal
and narrative therapy, which helps us re-author the stories that shape our lives
Together, these frameworks create a compassionate and non-pathologizing way to explore your inner world. We begin by listening—not just to your surface-level thoughts, but to the voices and feelings within that are often pushed aside. Parts Work helps you enter into dialogue with these internal figures so they can be witnessed, understood, and unburdened.
You might find, for example, that the part of you who lashes out is trying to protect a younger part who still carries fear. Or that a part keeping you stuck in self-doubt is actually trying to prevent you from experiencing shame again. These parts all have their reasons. And when we bring curiosity and respect to them, something begins to shift.
At the core of this work is the recognition of what IFS calls the Self—and what depth traditions might call the soul or the inner healer. This Self is not a part, but a presence: calm, curious, compassionate, and capable of leading the healing process. Our work together helps you access this deeper center and begin to live from it more fully.
In the process, you may:
Gain insight into longstanding emotional patterns and inner conflicts
Experience relief from anxiety, depression, or emotional overwhelm
Develop a new relationship with parts you’ve judged, rejected, or misunderstood
Reclaim exiled qualities like playfulness, courage, creativity, and grief
Rewrite limiting inner narratives into ones that support healing and integration
Deepen your sense of connection to your inner world—and to the wholeness underneath it all
Parts Work is not about quick fixes. It’s a slow, honest, and respectful journey inward. Over time, as inner relationships shift, many clients report feeling more grounded, more integrated, and more able to live from a place of inner clarity and strength.
“We all have a wild, untamed psyche within us—a rich ecology of subpersonalities and soul potentials, each with a unique role in our becoming.”
—Bill Plotkin, Wild Mind
“The most important thing I can say about parts is that they are all welcome.”
—Richard Schwartz, founder of IFS
If you sense that something inside you is asking to be heard—something tender, stuck, protective, or wise—Parts Work offers a safe and meaningful way to listen. I would be honored to walk that path with you.
